My five-year-old niece thinks it's a dog or a bear. But she is wrong... The iconic pig or bull plate was found in 1930 on the territory of the giant Azovstal plant, before its construction began. The figure was found by archaeologist Mykola Makarenko. It turned out that 7,000 years ago, there was a necropolis on this site (known as the Mariupol burial ground), the most prominent Neolithic monument in Ukraine. People who were engaged in cattle breeding lived here. Before the discovery, it was believed that only nomads lived in the steppe. The object was more likely to be worn by children. It is made of a wild boar tusk. Nowadays, like the entire collection of the necropolis, it has been lost due to the Russian-Ukrainian war.
